A: The course spans identity and power, intersectionality, liberation, ethical advocacy, systemic oppression, allyship, and personal action planning — all grounded in culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches.

Course & Registration

Q: Who is this course for?
A: This course is designed for licensed counselors, therapists, psychologists, social workers, supervisors, and graduate students who want to align their practice with equity-driven values and deepen their commitment to justice and liberation in counseling.

Q: What is the course format?
A: The course includes nine live, interactive online sessions with guided reflection, applied learning, and community dialogue. Participants are expected to engage with the material in real time to receive CE credit.

Q: How do I register?
A: Registration is completed through our secure online form. You will provide your name, email, phone number, and professional information necessary for continuing education credit. Once you have registered, you will receive an invoice to pay for the course, which must be paid before class begins.

Q: What is the cost of the course?
A: The price is $2499.00. The fee includes access to all sessions, course materials, and a certificate of completion upon full participation. This course is approved for 27 CE units.

Continuing Education Credit

Q: Is this course approved for CE credit?
A: Yes.  Please see our CE credit statement below:

Foundations of Social Justice in Counseling has been approved by NBCC for NBCC credit. The Institute for Liberatory Practice is solely responsible for all aspects of the program. NBCC Approval No. SP-4899.

The approval number and credit hours are listed on your certificate upon completion.

Q: How many CE units will I earn?
A: You’ll earn 27 CE units for full participation. Only time spent in qualifying live instruction is included.

Q: What content areas are covered and to what degree?
A: This course includes

        • 7.5 contact hours for Counsellor Professional Identity & Practice Issues (Ethics)
        • 19.5 contact hours for Social & Cultural Foundations (Multicultural Competency)

Q: What are the learning objectives?
A: The course includes five core outcomes, including analyzing power and oppression in counseling, applying liberatory frameworks, and creating a justice-focused counseling plan. A simplified version appears on the course homepage, and full objectives are provided in your participant materials.

Q: Will I receive a certificate?
A: Yes. You’ll receive a digital certificate of completion that includes your name, program title, date, number of NBCC credit hours, and our NBCC approval number. Certificates are issued after successful attendance verification and evaluation completion. Physical certificates are available upon request and at cost to the participant.

Participation & Assessment

Q: Do I have to attend live to get credit?
A: Yes. To receive CE units, real-time participation in live sessions is required. Participants must attend the full duration of each session to receive credit.

Q: Is there a final assessment?
A: Yes. You’ll complete a brief learning assessment aligned with the course objectives. This helps confirm engagement and understanding and meets quality standards.

Q: Will there be an evaluation?
A: Yes. Participants must complete a post-course evaluation to receive their certificate. This includes feedback on content, presenter quality, and accessibility.

Technology & Access

Q: What platform is the course delivered on?
A: All live sessions are conducted via Zoom. Access details will be provided after registration.

Q: Will sessions be recorded?
A: Yes. These recordings will be maintained for 10 days after the completion of the course, at which time they will be removed from access.  Please note: watching class videos does not count toward CE credits – you must attend the live sessions to earn credit.

Q: Do I need any special equipment?
A: You’ll need a stable internet connection, a functioning monitor, a webcam, and a microphone to participate in interactive sessions fully.

Q: What if I need to cancel my registration?
A: Our refund and cancellation policy can be accessed through the “Policies” link at the top of the page. Please contact us as soon as possible if your plans change.

Q: Do you provide ADA accommodations?
A: Yes. We are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Please indicate any accommodation needs on the registration form or contact us directly.

Q: How long do you keep my information?
A: Course registration records are retained for five years in accordance with continuing education policy. You may request the removal of your non-essential information at any time.

Privacy & Data Use

Q: What personal information do you collect and why?
A: We collect your name, email, phone number, and professional credentials to process your registration, issue CE credit, and communicate course-related information.

Q: Do you share my information with anyone?
A: No. We do not share your information with third parties. We use Google Analytics to monitor site performance, but this does not collect any personal or sensitive data.
