This is more than continuing education—it’s a space to reimagine your role as a counselor. Through guided reflection, applied learning, and community dialogue, you’ll examine systems of oppression, explore your own social location, and gain practical tools to integrate social justice into your clinical work and counseling identity. Grounded in liberatory frameworks and facilitated by experienced practitioners, this course supports your growth as a healer, advocate, and change-maker.
Licensed counselors, therapists, psychologists, social workers, supervisors, and graduate students who want to align their practice with equity driven values.
Whether you’re beginning this journey or seeking deeper integration, Foundations offers a place to explore, expand, and engage in healing-centered, equity-driven practice.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Analyze how power, privilege, and oppression shape counseling at every level (from individual interactions to systems) and affect client care and access.. Examine their own identities, values, and responsibilities as counselors in relation to equity, bias, and cultural humility. Use social justice, intersectional, and liberation-based approaches to support client healing, empowerment, and advocacy. Tell the difference between performative and authentic allyship, and create long-term strategies for ethical, meaningful advocacy. Create an equity-focused counseling plan and personal action strategy that centers culturally responsive practices, self-reflection, and accountability.
